How to spend 24 hours in Key West, Florida

Where to stay, how to get around, and where to explore in Key West with only 24 hours

Key West, Florida is the southernmost point in the United States. There is so much to see and do in this tiny city of Florida, I will definitely need more than 24 hours the next time I go! If you love warm weather, seafood, and good shopping, then Key West is for sure somewhere to add to your bucket list!

Transportation

Getting around Key West was no issue at all. The hotel actually had a shuttle that ran from the hotel to the main part of town every hour which was super convenient. There was one time when I got an Uber just because of the timing, but it was not any insane price which was nice.

Where to Stay

I stayed at the DoubleTree Resort by Hilton Hotel Grand Key- Key West and had an incredible experience. I was only there for one night and most of the day was spent exploring the city, but I would still recommend the hotel! The staff was very pleasant, the DoubleTree cookies were delicious, and they had a huge tower of free water bottles which was nice. I also think the shuttle service that I mentioned above is a huge selling point for this hotel. The pool is super nice and the entire outdoor area is gorgeous, perfect for an afternoon nap under some palm trees!

What to Do

Key West is such a fun and cute city. It is relatively small, so you will most likely see the entire city, or very close to it, during your trip. There are lots of great places to take pictures, relax, grab some drinks, and so much more. You will not be disappointed!

Conch Republic Seafood Company: Conch Republic Seafood Company has one of the coolest atmospheres I have seen for a restaurant in a while. It is basically outside, but with a covering, so you can still feel the Florida sunshine without sweating your whole meal. It is also located right on the water which is always a plus in my opinion.

I am allergic to seafood, but everyone I was traveling with thoroughly enjoyed their meals and they all want to go back as soon as possible. I had to get chicken tenders because it was all I could eat, BUT they were actually incredible haha. They also have very tasty frozen drinks…YUM!

Cuban Coffee Queen: While I did not get any coffee here, it smelled great and everyone there seemed to be very happy. I ended up over here for their beautiful Key West mural on the side of the building. So, I recommend putting Cuban Coffee Queen into your GPS to get to the cute photo spot, and it works as a coffee stop too if you enjoy coffee!

Tropic Cinema: Tropic Cinema is another great photo spot, but it also looks like an adorable spot to go see a movie if you are in Key West longer than my quick 24 hour trip. There is a really neat Marilyn Monroe statue in front of the theater and the colors of the building are so fun and artsy, so definitely check it out!

Pan American World Airways: Pan American World Airways was the airline with the first United States international flight, it went to Havana, Cuba! Pan American’s birthplace is in Key West, and you can even go see the first office. This was a hit for my pilot while we were here. The area also has made one building into a mini museum, more so a small room, but still neat, and also a brewery with fun aviation themed names!

Southernmost Point Buoy: The Southernmost Point Buoy is a neat marker to take photos with to show that you are 90 miles from Cuba! It had a long line for pictures when I was there, but it went quickly and is a must!

Key West is definitely a fun place to visit. I am already itching to go back! I do recommend staying longer than I did, but if you can only squeeze in a day during some sort of road trip, it is worth it! Enjoy the warm weather, incredible food and drinks, beautiful sights all around, and shop until you drop!

Xoxo,

Anna
